Mother’s Day – Sunday, May 9, 2021

Auburn Bible Chapel – Peterborough, Ontario

“Being a Mom in the 21st Century”

Proverbs 31:10-31

Thesis

In the midst of the confusion that cultural change causes, an “interpretive benchmark” for being a Mom in the 21st century is Proverbs 31:10-31.

A.  The Scripture passage –

      Proverbs 31:10-27

      1.  Theme – “noble character” –

           vs. 10

      2.  Trust – vs. 11-12

      3.  Provider – vs. 13-15

      4.  Investor – vs. 16

      5.  Tireless – vs. 17-19

      6.  Compassionate – vs. 20

      7.  Provider again – vs. 21-22

      8.  Strengthens her husband –

           vs. 23

      9.  Entrepreneur – vs. 24

    10.  A Description of who she is –

           vs. 25-27

B.  Application:  The Mother’s Day

     section – Proverbs 31: 28-31

  1. Children – vs. 28a – If I continue on the track I am on, will my children call me “blessed?”
  2. Husband – vs. 28b-29 – A word to husbands more than wives.
  3. God – vs. 30 – The fleeting nature of beauty causes the question, “Where is my relationship with God leading me?”
  4. Reward – vs. 31 – “Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works praise her at the city gate.”
